Menopause Symptoms & Conditions

  • OWEL 2200 North Monroe Street Baltimore, MD, 21217 United States (map)

This session reviews the latest evidence on mood, sleep, and hot flashes occurring during menopause. Depression, anxiety, and sleep disturbance are common among women with HIV, and the mechanisms through which menopause and HIV may interact to influence mental health will be discussed. Further, women with HIV may experience more burdensome menopausal hot flashes, that have been shown to influence adherence to antiretroviral therapy. Participants will gain an understanding of the prevalence, underlying mechanisms, and clinical management of these common symptoms.
